Japan's Toray Industries has formed a joint venture with Daimler, the production of carbon fiber auto parts.
The joint venture from 2012 onwards the production of carbon fiber reinforced plastic automotive parts. Toray and Daimler joint-venture company owned 50.1% and 49.9% stake in the joint venture in Germany Esslingen.
Carbon fiber than steel and aluminum are
Expensive. Currently, most carbon fiber products are used in top racing, sports car and aerospace industries.
However, with increasingly stringent vehicle emissions standards and the rise of electric cars, luxury car manufacturers are trying to mass production of carbon fiber products, to reduce vehicle weight.
Last year, Daimler's competitors, BMW set up a joint venture with SGL, the production of carbon fiber materials.
