German automotive supplier Continental today announced that its Huntsville plant in the United States has been discontinued.
Continental Huntsville plant will be transferred to Texas and Mexico for production, its product development will be transferred to Michigan, Illinois and Mexico's mainland factories.
Huntsville Chrysler plant is built in 1988. In 2004, Chrysler sold the plant to the automotive electronics company Siemens. In 2007, Siemens transferred to the Continental factories.
September 2009, the mainland announced it would close the Huntsville plant. At that time, the plant has 1,280 hourly workers and long-term. The plant is now only 250 employees in January next year when the plant will be only 100 employees.
Continental plans to plant next year in June will be transferred to Huntsville Chrysler, and said the plant's office building is being leased.
