German luxury car maker BMW AG (BMW) India unit said in April 2011, the company has started the factory in Chennai in southern India (Chennai) assembly of the engine. It is reported that these engines will be used for the Indian market, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series sedans and X1 models.

    Way on all parts of India assembled (CKD) cars of the new regulations, the move will enable BMW to pay 30% less than the tariff.

    Schaff, president of BMW India branch (AndreasSchaaf) said that the current Indian market is about 50% of the BMW engine local assembly in India. In the future, the company is also considering the engine in India.

    It is reported that the first four months of this year BMW car sales in India last year rose by 80% over the same period. Previously, the company said in the Indian market in 2010 BMW's vehicle sales for the 6246, but this year the company aims to sell in India exceeded 1 million mark.
